RealTech

Privacy

What data the RealTech website collects: no registration and no personal data; Google analytics and ad cookies only as you choose in Google’s window.

Readers’ data

The website does not require registration and does not collect readers’ personal data. We do not know who you are and do not try to find out.

What we count

  • Article views per day, for the view count of each story, the “Trending now” block and editorial statistics. These are numbers, not browsing histories: neither the IP address nor a device identifier is stored.
  • Reactions under stories: shared “Useful”, “Wow” and “Thanks” counters that are not linked to any reader. Only your browser remembers what you pressed.
  • Page speed (Web Vitals), without cookies or identifiers.

Cookies and Google’s consent window

The site has no cookie banner of its own: consent is managed by Google. Analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense) work under Google’s rules.

  • In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google’s consent window appears on your first visit. It is a certified consent management platform under the IAB TCF standard (“Managed by Google”), where you can accept cookies, refuse them or set them by purpose and partner.
  • Until you choose, Google Analytics and ads work without cookies (Google Consent Mode) and ads are not personalised.
  • You can change your decision at any time with the “Privacy and cookie settings” button that Google shows. How Google uses data from partner sites is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The site itself sets one cookie, rt-lang: the language you chose in the language switcher (kept for a year, so that we do not offer you a language again).

What is stored in your browser

  • Your choice of a dark or light theme, in the browser’s local storage. It is not sent to the server.
  • A note that the “Read in your language?” hint has already been shown, in the same place, so that it is not shown again.
  • Your “Saved” list and your reactions under stories, in the same place: we have no accounts.
  • The time zone for displaying times is taken from your device settings. If the browser hides the time zone, the site determines it once from the IP address and remembers it for the session; the address itself is not stored.
