Nagoya University researchers read membrane proteins and microRNAs in intact extracellular vesicles. In lab and patient samples, the method linked inflammation to its tissue of origin.
Researchers report a toothbrush with piezoelectric bristles that damages oral bacteria. In a three-month trial with 115 adults, plaque and gum inflammation were lower.
An experimental toothbrush with PVDF filaments generates a charge that produces reactive oxygen species against oral bacteria. Lab and three-month human tests were reported.
A correlative X-ray method combining phase-contrast CT and small-angle scattering mapped nano- and microscale strain in intact rat discs under load.
In blood samples from 34 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, Nature authors found 271 splicing events absent in controls; peptides from them activated T cells in vitro.
Researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong compared stool microbiomes of 720 children with ASD and 151 controls. Associations with severity were significant but explained little variance.
Researchers anchored a TAM-targeted STING nanoagonist to adoptive T cells so that the agonist is activated only where both are present. The results were obtained in mice.
Weill Cornell and Yonsei researchers describe a photocatalytic labeling method that identifies protein–protein interactions in human tissue without model organisms in the first discovery step.
In 1,480 untreated participants, higher total cell-free DNA came with more cancer-associated methylation and higher early-stage detection sensitivity, the authors report.
Repeated binge alcohol in APP/PS1 mice, a model of Alzheimer's disease, caused liver injury and raised inflammatory markers in liver and brain. The authors link this to vesicles from hepatocytes.
Dynamic ultrasound plus MRI segmented compartments of the flexor digitorum superficialis in vivo and gave 3D fiber trajectories; the study involved ten healthy people.
Authors report a comb with electrodes and drug modules that delivers a plasmid and siRNA into follicles during combing; tested on an alopecia mouse model.
Single-cell sequencing of human cells showed that senescent CD8 T EM cells accumulate with age and in disease, and fail to proliferate, produce cytokines or clear senescent cells in vitro.
Authors built age-based reference volumes of the hippocampus and its subfields and used them to score individual patients with five neurological disorders.
Researchers mapped where three viral proteins bind the SARS-CoV-2 RNA genome; blocking these sites in cells reduced replication, an early proof of concept for antiviral targets.
In a phase 1/2 trial, the prime editor is injected into the bloodstream to correct DNA in liver cells. The company expects initial results next year.
Neuroscientists at Emory University detected a sixfold-symmetry signature in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex as 18 participants evaluated emotional stimuli. The sample is small; the role of the pattern is not established.
The company develops a swallowable capsule device meant to deliver drugs that are now given by injection. A Phase 1 clinical study is still only planned.
In blood samples from 273 children, six of more than 5,000 circulating proteins were linked to cardiometabolic risk; none of the children was followed into adulthood.
The Paris campus announced the eighth Future 40 cohort, which has raised €110 million to date; the wider ecosystem exceeded the €1.5 billion of 2025.
