The showcase featured approximately 40 quilts and related textile works made by about 20 members of the MIT community. Among the displays were collective projects, including an astrophysics community quilt assembled by graduate student Swati Ravi. Another piece presented was an American flag incorporating embroidery produced by refugees, assembled by Anh Vu Sawyer and her husband Philip.
Organizer Jane Halpern stated that the event served as a one-time exhibition. Community members seeking to continue textile work were directed to internal maker resources, the Crafters’ Circle group, and the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts.
